Heveder Hungarian Folk Ensemble

Heveder: Eresszed, hogy menjenThe musicians of the Heveder Hungarian Folk Ensemble may be young, but they carry on a long tradition. They play music that comes straight from the villages of Transylvania and Hungary (Hungarian, Romanian and Roma folk music). The band memebers come from the largely Hungarian populated city of Sepsiszentgyörgy/Sfântu Gheorghe in eastern Transylvania (Romania).

Founded in 2002, Heveder has since become an all-time favorite at festivals and folkdance events throughout Transylvania. The band has toured Hungary, Romania and Western Europe, as well as the United States. In 2008 and 2009, Heveder appeared on Hungarian television, receiving awards for their performances. The group’s first studio album, “Eresszed, hogy menjen”/“Let It Go,” was released in 2009, and their second, “Székely”/“Szekler,” in 2011, specially for the U.S. tour.

Levente Fazakas: violin, vocals; Szabolcs Molnár: violin, vocals; Albert Fazakas: viola, hammered dulcimer; László Szilágyi: viola, accordion; György Bajna: double bass, gardon
