Csuporné Angyal Zsuzsanna

Csuporné Angyal ZsuzsaBorn in Balassagyarmat in 1955, I wanted to be a potter since I was a child. As an adult, I studied the history of the craft, and became especially interested in the purposes and modes of use for clay objects in the past. I became a Folk Artist in 1983.

Since my heritage did not limit my association to a specific pottery center, I chose to specialize in the making of dishes and moulds used for baking, as well as pots for candle dipping. Subsequently,  I expanded my expertise with baking gingerbread cakes and dipping candles, activities that were traditionally related to pottery due to the various clay products used in the beekeeping industry. The decoration of gingerbread products once again brought me back to clay, and I started making moulding tools. As a consequence, I also learned to carve and use various wooden tools, which were traditionally crafted by the gingerbread makers themselves. In my free time, I teach these folk crafts to folk art aficionados.
