Navratil Andrea

NavratilAndrea_byBarcsikGeza-002Navratil Andrea grew up in a family of music lovers; they sang together often, and many family members played a musical instrument as well. “Listening to the Lajtha Collection still reminds me of that inexplicable feeling I had when hearing Széki slow for the first time ever,” the singer admits. Her teachers were Bujtor Ágnes and Bodza Klára, but she considers her true masters the elderly women and men from whom she learnt the chants and customs. Andrea has spent time with a few of them in person, gaining much more than just songs, tales or prayers. She shares her knowledge and experiences through her work as a performer and teacher.

A member of the ensembles Kobzos, Fonó and Igriczek, Andrea is also the soloist of the Danube Folk Ensemble. She has won awards at numerous folk music events and contests, holds the title of Young Master of Folk Art, and has garnered countless accolades for her achievements in education and folk music interpretation.
