Czefernekné Tenk Bernadett

Czefernekné_webThanks to influences from my mother and the embroidery groups I attended with her, handicraft has been my passion since early childhood. I started out weaving wool but eventually explored a variety of other traditional folk crafts. In 1994, I took a course on horsehair jewelry, which was organized by the Veszprém Folk Art Society and taught by Fekete Katalin, a folk artist from Szombathely.

Since 1996, I have been participating in the Budapest Festival of Folk Arts, the largest traditional folk art festival in Hungary. I started teaching classes on horsehair jewelry in 1998, and I take great pride in the success of my students, who have garnered numerous prestigious awards at exhibitions and competitions. I regularly participate in horsehair jewelry demonstrations and exhibitions, both in Hungary and abroad. In 2004, I received the Young Master of Folk Art.

I expand my knowledge of horsehair jewelry through conducting research on the craft both online and in museums. Along with creating archaic styles, I also strive to create my own unique models that are built upon folk traditions. My ultimate goal is to pass on my knowledge of this very rare form of jewelry making and to share the joy of the craft with others.
