Csaba Mészáros

Csaba MészárosCsaba Mészáros is a research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, and lecturer of ethnography at the Balassi Institute for Hungarian Studies. He defended his PhD thesis in 2011 at the Hungarian and Comparative Folklore Studies Doctoral Program in Budapest. In 2000-2001 he did fieldwork among the Khamnigans in Northeastern-Mongolia. Since 2002 he has carried out subsequent fieldworks in Yakutia (Northeastern-Siberia). His major fields of interest are: post-soviet studies, postcolonial anthropology, mapping narrative and local knowledge and measuring social capital in small-scale communities. In Hungary he was engaged with research work at the border-areas. In 1997-1998 he researched Hungarian villages at the Slovakian side of the Hungarian-Slovakian border. Currently he works at the Hungarian-Slovenian-Austrian tri-border area.
